How to Find Commercial/Industrial DOVs

Check one or more occupancy boxes

There is a rather lengthy list of occupancy classifications that you can use to filter out DOVs you don't want. Check the boxes next to any occupancies you might be interested in. If you are interested in them all, don't bother to check any boxes -- there is a set of radio buttons at the bottom of the form, and one lets you ignore the check boxes and get a list of DOVs not filtered by occupancy.

Choose how to apply occupancy criteria

There are four radio buttons at the bottom of the form which determine how the occupancy checkboxes affect the selection of DOVs to be returned to you in a list. The radio buttons are:

• Return all DOVs for the year entered (ignores occupancy checks)

  This is the default choice. The occupancy checkboxes are ignored. You will get a list of all Commercial/Industrial DOVs for the year(s) you selected. No DOVs will be kept off the list because of the property's occupancy. (Tip - There are only about 200 of these Commercial/ Industrial DOVs per year. Some searches are best accomplished by using this radio button, retrieving the full list, and then simply skimming through them all.)

• DOVs matching ONLY occupancies checked

  A property may have more than one occupancy. For example, it could have an occupancy of "Light Manufacturing" AND an occupancy of "Metal Office." If you checked just the "Light Manufacturing" checkbox, this radio button will not put the example property on the DOV list because it has an occupancy you didn't check.

• DOVs matching ANY occupancies checked, plus any other incidental occupancies

  This radio button includes a DOV on the returned list as long as it has an occupancy that matches any of those you checked. If it has other occupancies as well, it doesn't matter whether they match a checked box or not.

• DOVs matching ALL occupancies checked, plus any other incidental occupancies

  This radio button will not include a DOV on the returned list unless every occupancy you have checked matches one of the property's occupancies. If the property has additional occupancies beyond those you checked, it doesn't matter -- the property will still be on the list.

Click the Search button

This will send your form back to the computer. In response, the computer will display a list of the DOVs that match your request, one DOV per line. Each line shows the DOV date, amount, property address, occupancy (truncated if there are many), and transfer conditions. Click on a line to see all of the information for the DOV. If there are additional DOVs on file for the property, you will get a list of those DOVs instead of just the DOV you selected. Click the DOV you selected again on this new list and you will get a form showing all of its DOV information.

To Find Vacant Land

Do not check any occupancy boxes. Select the radio button for "Only occupancies checked." Click on the Search button.

Clear button

Click this to uncheck all occupancies and set the form back to its default settings of current year and all DOVs in that year.
